Building in Scottsdale

Every build is designed for the desert. We use heavy insulation, efficient cooling, shaded glazing and finishes that hold up to summer sun. Each one is finished in our workshop and set on your property ready to use.

Areas we serve

  • Scottsdale
  • Paradise Valley
  • Phoenix
  • Tempe
  • Fountain Hills
  • Cave Creek

Built for desert heat

Summer highs regularly pass 110°F, so every Scottsdale build gets closed-cell insulation, a right-sized mini-split, low-E glazing and a reflective roof coating. Deep awnings shade the glass.

Monsoon and dust

Openings are sealed and flashed for monsoon rain and wind-blown dust, and roofs are pitched slightly so water drains away.

Permits and HOAs

Arizona now requires larger cities, including Scottsdale, to allow accessory dwellings on single-family lots. Many Scottsdale neighborhoods also have HOA design review. We prepare the drawings for both.

Questions

Scottsdale FAQ

All questions

Can I put a container casita in my Scottsdale backyard?

In most cases, yes. Arizona law now requires larger cities like Scottsdale to allow accessory dwelling units on single-family lots, subject to local size and setback rules. If your neighborhood has an HOA, it may also need to approve the design. We review your lot and prepare drawings for the city and the HOA.

Will a steel container be too hot in an Arizona summer?

Not when it's built properly. We insulate the walls and roof with closed-cell foam, add a reflective roof coating, use low-E glass with shading, and size a mini-split for desert loads. A finished TankBoxes casita stays as comfortable as a well-built room in the main house.

Do you build container pool houses and lounges in Scottsdale?

Yes. The Lounge is a 20 ft side-opening room with a built-in bar or desk, and it's one of our most popular Scottsdale builds. It's typically placed beside a pool or patio.

We also build in San Francisco.
