TankBoxes began with a simple idea. Some of the strongest structures ever made sit in ports by the million, and they deserve better than to be scrapped.
We're a design-build studio. We take shipping-grade steel containers and turn them into homes, studios, cafés and bars that people want to spend time in. Each one is designed with the client and fully finished in our workshop.
Then we deliver it, set it on a prepared foundation and connect it. You don't spend months with contractors on site. You get a finished building that arrives ready to use.
Overbuilt on purpose
Shipping containers are engineered to carry heavy loads across rough seas. We start with that shell and reinforce it wherever we cut an opening, so it stays strong for decades.
Finished in the workshop
Weather, change orders and missed trades are what make site construction slow. We build indoors, on level floors, with the same crew every time, so the quality is consistent and timelines hold.
Considered details
We sweat the shadow gaps, the lighting temperature, how a door feels to close and how the wood ages. These details are what make a steel box feel like architecture.
